Shares rise by €4.4bn as banks surge back
The value of Irish shares experienced their largest jump in 5 years on Wednesday, with almost 4.5 billion being added to the value of shares.
The Irish market's recent decline has been compounded by the fact that financial stocks make up 40pc of the Iseq index of Irish shares.
Share prices rose by 4.6pc on the back of a decision by the United States to slash its interest rates by half a percent.
The move helped to lessen the unstableness in markets across the world.
